Instruments for the Outback 2018
After the great success of last years musical adventure to the outback, I am again headed off with fellow musicians Levi McGrath and Andy Horneman to the Northern Territory. We’ll be resourcing isolated outback communities in Nitmiluk and Arnhem Land with music equipment. While there we will gather the young indigenous groups from all over the area to be part of music workshops, providing opportunities to develop and mentor the potential in young musician. I'll be taking my portable recording studio and working with Indigenous song writers to develop and record their music - a passion of mine!
Not long to go now, so grateful for Levi and Andy's vision and the chance to be part of this.

Johns' new songs "Pretty Stars" and "Overflow" have received runner-up and finalist recognition at the International Acoustic Music Awards for 2015.
John Newsome is proud to be a part of a project bringing together 13 contemporary Christian artists for a new album titled: AUSSIE HOPE. The album features 'This Mountains Will Sing" from Johns 2011 release "Falling Awake". All profits from "Aussie Hope" support the work of Live Connection, who partner with pastors and aid projects in 3rd world countries. Please support this great cause by purchasing this album on iTunes.
John Newsome is an Australian singer songwriter, well known for his rich vocal quality, acoustic heart and poetic lyrics. With a style much like acoustic folk pop, John has been compared to that of Paul Colman, Neil Finn and Jake Nauta, with a vocal style much like Chris Tomlin and Jason Mraz.
Captivated by music from the age of 4 listening to tunes on his Father’s reel to reel player, John has followed the call of music and creativity on his life. Picking up an acoustic guitar early in his teen years, John found a resonance between his voice, the guitar, and his poetic spirit, that created a platform for the birth of a songwriter.
“For me music is about connecting with heart and soul. Sharing a story through song that resonates with someone’s journey and brings hope. As well as to entertain and celebrate the joy of music and life".
John’s songs are deeply rooted in his faith in God, and the journey of life with his wife and three children.
With his music played on radio stations across Australia, John has independently released three projects, including his latest CD ‘Returning to the Place we Started’. This EP has already garnered recognition at the International Acoustic Music Awards for Pretty Stars (Runner up in the AAA genre) and "Overflow"- finalist as best male artist.
